Definition: A failed delivery is when a courier attempts to deliver a parcel but is unable to complete the delivery.


In simple terms

The parcel could not be delivered to the customer and will need another attempt or further action.



Common reasons

A delivery may fail if:

  • The customer is not available

  • The address is incorrect or incomplete

  • Access to the property is not possible

  • The parcel is refused



What happens next

  • The courier may attempt delivery again

  • The parcel may be held at a local depot

  • The customer may be contacted to rearrange delivery
